The 16 Days of Activism to End Violence Against Women and Girls

The 16 Days of Activism to End Violence Against Women and Girls takes place every November-December, and offers an excellent opportunity to engage our pupils with this topic - to get them thinking about what gender-based violence looks like and what role they can play it eradicating it.

The 16 Days of Activism is an international campaign raising awareness of violence against women and girls and emphasising the idea that gender-based violence is a human rights violation. The campaign runs from November 25th (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls) to December 10th (World Human Rights Day). Since 1991, organisations, individuals and movements around the world have used this period of activism to raise awareness of gender based violence and drum up support and initiatives to eradicate it.
